Why does my breathing settle down during my running after the quarter mile point!
Question:
I am an avid runner.5 times a week averaging 6 to 8 miles daily. After my warm up, I have a little discomfort with my breathing until I get approximately a quarter mile out and it seems to mellow out. Why?
Answers:
your lungs relax, then expand, making it easier to breath. happens to me at work. I'm a roofer and i have asthma, I'm also afraid of heights[ yeah i don't get it either].anyway when i first go up the ladder in the morning especially on a cold day i get tense, i hyperventilate and breathing is a problem . after a little while i calm down , relax and everything is everything.

It is called "runners high" I get it too. I run about 15 miles a week.I don't know the physiological reason though.
Do you have any problems with your lungs? Or do you smoke? This would be an explanation for me. Also a cold could be responsible for s.th. like that. You should better ask your doctor.
Just because you breathing is a a fast pass. when you do that mile it mellws down because u get acustome to past.
