most of what has been said above is all good advice a low carb diet (high in fiber) will help you but you have to also know youre body type this is why i think the skale is the enemy here, now having said this if it is fat you want to burn, run away from it, as in running or cardio is the best way i know, anything OVER 20 min will get your body going in a fat burning "mode".
Drink before you eat about 30 min before you eat any meal drink a full glass of water, this will help to curb youre apitite, I use this so I know it works i drink about 6 liters of water a day, i'm trying to loose a few lbs my self.. now also it all depends on how meny months you are trying to work with, and what you want your body to look lik what are youre goals if just dropping a few pounds is your goal but not really much in the way of toning up, then a relitively simple diet/ cardieo with light weight training into your routine focus on high reps for the best results and try to get a friend with a simalar goal in on this as well, i don't know how meny times i've been motivated by my room mate to go to the gym on days i didn't want to go a friend at the "gym" or where ever you go to work out is a bonus.
if all else fails, just remember you are you nomater what you look like be it stick figure like or well competing with cattle for scale time.
remember this you can only do what you know you can do, meaning that if you don't think you can drop the weight you NEVER will, its about confidence in you when you boil it down if you start you will see results, if you see results your self confidence will improve, this i know. when i started "working out" i was 86 Kilo mostly fat now i'm 81 Kilo almost all muscle, (almost) i dropped frmo about 45- 50% body fat to probably less then 20 now, try it it works. the stuff in here is what i use. ok I'm depressed now, I'm gonna go sit in frount of the TV with a can of crisco, a loaf of bread and a jar of mayonase, and try to forget that i'm still not where i want to be
