I have a problem with cutting myself?!

i first started cutting just to act cool and astuff and i have had depression and adhd for years ad i take meds for that. but once i started i cant stop. i think one reason is because im overweit and think badly of myself and theres a girl i like but forget that. i need help im only in 6th grade and i cnt let my parents know. i really need help. every time i feel stressed i have to cut what can i do.

For some reason, self injurious behavior is very addicting. Once you start, it's very hard to stop. I started cutting when I was 12--I'm now 28 and still fight the urge. Since you just started, you need to work really hard at stopping. If you feel like you really need help, you need to reach out to an adult that you trust and can talk to. When you feel the urge to cut, call a friend or find another outlet---sports, drawing, working out, music, writing your feelings down, hobbies. You need to get control over this now because the longer you do it, the harder it is to stop.

I have an adult friend who also cuts. She cuts to the point of having to go to ER. So, this is very serious--if you don't gain some control, it'll control you and only get worse.
If you're suicidal, you really need to talk to your parents. You may need some different meds.

Please find someone you can reach out to! And never feel like people don't/can't understand because there are many people who do this. You're not alone.

That is some sort of a psycological problem that can be treated. I've heard of it before. Seek medical advise or therapy, things will be alright if treated properly!

Please get help as soon as possible. This usually only gets worse if not treated. Talk to somebody-- a counselor, a pastor, a friend, an aunt.

Its hard keeping a secrect like that to yourself. Your overweight, so what, youre beautiful the way your are. If this is something that you can discuss with your parents you should. Being a teacher I know how difficult this is as i know how parents could be. If you r currently seeing a doctor you should talk to him or her about it.

i'd perfer therapy or a counsler. but you need help a.s.a.p man. and find something else to do other than cut yourself. like when i get stressed i poke people that i dont like. or i just run and bump into stuff. and yes that is stupid but still it helps me. (oh yeah, and i poke pretty hard.)

i think you should stop and think how much longer you will live if you just stop. it is not cool to cut yourself. people will totally miss out on a great friendship with you if they judge you because you cut yourself. try vutting clay instead, or play with a really squishy ball to keep your hands occupied. I am 12 also, and remember, everytime you laugh you live longer.

Wow, it seems like us 6th graders get stuck with all the problems ehh? Yeah I understand I used to do that, after my 2nd time I stopped tho, U either have to overcome some of your thoughts on cutting urself with new positive ones or get a psycologist to help u out. Surely enough your probably taking depression pills and not even knowing it? Honestly..so many medications these days how would u know If your taking anti-depression or depression pills right? , and about this girl, she doesn't like you back? Putting stress on you to make her like you back? Forget about her! If a girl doesn't like you for you then screw her! Like I said put your time into something positive and something tells me the thioughts of cuts will go away, and so what if your over weight! Atleast ur not a belemic or anorexic freak right? Just trying to make your days better..

P.S-Maybe talking to your school counselor or someone you REALLY trust about it would help? Not a friend who sometimes joins you in cutting , but and adult you trust and love maybe not your parents, but someone. I know for a fact its not easy to stop, I'm around your age to y'know, I know how you feel.Not only that but take it as slow as u can start off with making the cuts smaller and smaller and *snap* the next thing you know no more cuts! I wish u SOOOOOOO much luck in ur situation..I hope I helped in any way whatsoever

As an Adult, and as a father of three teenage girls. I can tell you that Parents are really the first step into resolving this issue. They love you and they can help you. You need to talk to them and let them know that you have an important issue to discuss with them trust them.

all we can do as a commmunity here at Yahoo is give you advice on the problems that are causing you to cut yourself hun. You are hurting yourself because you do not feel loved and feeling the pain helps you forget about the real pain that is surrounding you on a daily basis. try writing. you need to vent somehow. and the only other way to get help is to GO TO A COUNSELOR and tell her your feelings and problems. if that is not an option for you, then write. If you feel badly about yourself because of your weight, try and talk to your parents about changiing the choices of food that they make for your household. Tell them you are concerned about your weight and that you want help changing that. Talk to the coach at school and ask for advice on the different types of exercises that would be right for you. As a little girl, I had this one kid who was so mean to me because of my weight as well, and it hurt so much. I would always write in my notebooks about how I wish I was dead. I hated life. I hated everything. I know that things can be hard. especially when there are people around you that do not make things any better for you (bullies and the like). But stay strong. take writing as a habbit. instead of cutting yourself. writing helped me let out a lot of steam (anger). I hope you are able to stop cutting yourself. Good luck and God Bless!
