Any good ideas how to clean a white gold ring?!

Question:
My engagement ring is a year old and it's turning yellow. It also has small knicks in it. Any ideas how to bring back the gleam and buff out the knicks without bringing it to a jewler?
Answers:
any metal polsh like brasso will clean a tarnished silver or white gold ring like new..but to get knicks out without going to a jeweller seems a bit risky, you could use a dremel multi tool with a buffer on it or something like that if you were really stuck , but I would recommed going to a professional. take care

mild toothpaste and very soft toothbrush

You should use jewelry cleaner to clean white gold. It's sold in most drugstores and jewelry shops. If it is white gold it should not be tarnishing, but it may be dirty if you wear it a lot. It could also be yellow gold underneath a thin layer of white gold.if the white gold layer is wearing off, that might be why it appears to be yellow.

FYI, most jewelers will clean and buff your ring for free; all you have to do is ask.

find out what jewelry store it came from, typically the jewelry store it came from will clean it as a courtesey for being a customer.

do ya ever wash dishes? if you do, do ya notice how sparkly your rings look? use dawn dish washing liquid.

jewlery cleaner is the best thing to use to get it gleaming again but as far as the knicks thats probably going to have to be done by a jewler. i had the same problem and like you i didnt want to have to take it to the jewler but thats what i ended up having to do.

White gold's tendency is to turn back to it's natural yellow color. You need to take it to any jewelry store to have it re rhodium plated and polished. if it is 14 or 18 ct it will get scratches and dents more easily. cost is about $25 to re rhodium but it will look like new, so sparkly and beautiful!!

I just got mine done.

At many stores, such as WalMart, there is a jewelery cloth in a long red box that cleans jewelery with one side of the cloth, and shines/buffs with the other side of the cloth.
Your ring may also need to be re-rhodiumed.

Personal experience with cloth-works GREAT!
Kay Jewelers recommends re-rhodiuming.

use money to rubb it, it cleans it awesomely! use something like a 10 or 20, something green
