My husband ususally takes it right before dinner, and if he forgets, he takes it right after dinner. So, it really doesn't matter, works both ways.

I would take it after just in case, I mean if you eat it before, at least don't eat a big bowl of soup, you could pass out and drown.

Do not take antacids within 1 hour of taking Zantac. Antacids may decrease the effectiveness of Zantac.
My daughter is 17 years old and was recently diagnosed with Acid Reflux Disease. She is on Zantac and the physician told her to take it 4 times a day and it didn't matter if it was before or after meals. If I was you just call the pharmacy and ask them if you should take it before or after. They will let you know and the info is free!
