My daughter had a rash develop over a year ago, that was pink, rough and turned a tannish color at times. We were told by two different pediatricians that it is Moluscum Contagiosum (sp) which is a virus that can take up to four years to go away. It started on her upper thigh just below her bottom, and a small patch spread to behind her knee. The only remedy was to take her to a dermatologist and have it burned off, which I wouldn't do to my 4-yr-old. I tried everything and found that a prescription strength lubriderm will help with the discomfort and severity. It hasn't cured it, but it has certainly helped with faithful use (2x a day). Ask the doc to rule that out when you go in.
