I need to know an effective way to loose weigh?!

For 3 years i was on the orthro-evra patch and went from a size 8 to a size 13 i one year. I dont know how to get it off anymore. I have a treadmil and i do use it as much as i can but with a 3 year old that can get hard. In the year that i gained all the extra weight my eating habits never really changed. I am now off the patch just because i feel like it did have something to do with the gain. I do have quit a bit of muscle but it just seems like i am gaining from my hips to right below my breasts. i dont know how to get it off and it really depresses me to know that i look like this. i know i am getting older i will be 30 this year but i dont like the way i look anymore. i have never looked my age why start now.i need some serious help. I have ran out of ideas and i perfer to stay away from any pills just because i have a hard time spending the money on me when i rather do something for my son. I feel like i should be able to do it without pills. someone help please!!

You are smart to avoid pills because there is no pill that will effectively help you lose weight and keep it off!

You don't provide a lot of details as far as how much time you have for exercise, what your current diet is like, etc. but generally speaking, here are some tips to get you started.

Determine how many calories you should be consuming per day to meet your goals. I have provided a link below to an article that will help you determine this. That same article will also help you determine how to effectively reduce your caloric intake to meet those goals. It's a great article!

After you know your "caloric number," you'll want to divide that number by 5. That is how many calories you should be consuming 5 times per day.

As mentioned above, eat 5 times per day - eating every 3 hours or so.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

Include a lean protein source with every meal and try to include as many low glycemic carbohydrates with each meal (i.e. vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, etc.)

Throw out all junk foods, soda, alcohol, etc. for now.

Allow yourself ONE cheat MEAL per week.

Exercise at least 4-5 times per week and 6 days would be ideal. Each exercise session should last at least 20 minutes and during that 20 mintues, keep your heart rate in the "weight loss zone." I've provided a link below to another article on this subject. For now, concentrate on cardio exercises but by all means start strength training as well.

what I am doing, is going on weight watchers and exercising at least 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week. Drink water, no soda, and eat healthy things like salad and fruit. sometimes you have to include meat. If you have a friend on weight watchers, just use her book.

There is really no way to lose weight and being healthy except diet and exercise. First, carefully moniter you carbohydrates, which cause fat. No pasta, breads, or other wheat! Also, moniter your trans fat and your saturated fat. Having a 3-year-old is extremely tough, but unfortuatly, you have to make time for the treadmill. Early in the morning is the best time for me to run- it rejuvinates you for the day. Also, during the day, im not sure what your job is, but when you walk, do. If you work and live in a city, walk to work. But, the best way to lose weight- swimming. Swimming is the best sport for your body. No diet pills. Just work out, and don't overeat! GOOD LUCK!
