whats my risk of getting HIV from a dentist visit?!

Question:

Answers:
Very slim to none. We use what is called universal precautions in dentistry. This means using safety glasses, masks and gloves with every patient. All of our instruments are high pressure steam cleaned, disposable or chemically cleaned. Every patient has sterilized instruments used for them and anything that is disposable is new and clean and thrown away after you leave. The whole area where you were, is sprayed down with a disinfectant and wiped down with high content alcohol wipes. I use a new mask and gloves for every patient, and anytime I leave the room or need to remove my gloves, I wash my hands and start over with a new pair of gloves when needed. As health care professionals we have a higher chance of getting HIV from patients then you from us. We use sharp instruments and dental needles for injections, needles for stitches etc. If you have any concerns ask your dentist what their sterilization procedures are, they should be happy to explain it to you and you should then feel rest assured that you are getting the best care.

very slim

umm probably no risk at all.

the needles and stuff should all be clean, so you should have nothingto worry about. :)

By "dentist" do you mean "Tatoo parlor near the airport in a small african/asian village"? if not, then i would say your chances would be similar to those faced when you hand over your change to buy a tube of toothpaste at WalMart. Reason: Your dentist is unliky to participate in any risk factors such as IV drug use or drinking HIV infected blood. Although as for the good folks that work at WalMart.

Good question.

Just check the place out first and see how clean the Dentist office is ,but it slim but still there a risk in everything you think so go to the dentist and ask them how they clean their Tools

Unless you are sharing needles or having sex with your dentist, they are darn slender.

basically 0. Most dentists sterilize their equipment.
