does drinking alcohol have any effect on the effectiveness of infltration anesth!

Question:
my dentist friend tried doing infiltration anesthesia on several patients who drank alcohol the day before, some of them worked, some of them did not.
Answers:
Yes the dentist smells the ethers coming from the patients mouth and can't stop thinking.

"this guys an alcoholic, this guys an alcoholic, this guys an alcoholic. . ."

Or maybe
"alcohol. cool can't wait to put them out then I'll see where she has the wisky hidden.

bottom line.

It's a distraction face your fears sober, distract yourself, not the dentist.

Other Answers:
yes defiantly too much alcoholic person always facing problem during any Surgical or operations or even if your going to take out your tooth at that time they are also facing problem that's why don;t drink too much Alcohol and also it cause Heart attack and other heart diseases even one or 2 injection of lidocaine will not be anesthesia

Yes drinking alcohol does have a direct relation between how effective anesthesia can be. A person that abuses alcohol has a decreased liver function which metabolizes the anesth. If the liver is not working properly, the anesth. can build-up by-products and not metabolize the way it should. Hence you can give a lot of anesh. and they will not get numb. Depending on how severe the liver function is, will depend on how a person can get numb or not.
