No! I used to buy all my clothes from aeropostale but the shirts barely last 6 months. Thay shrink in the dryer and somehow the threads always come loose.

Yes mostly good brands provide good products because they care a lot for their goodwill and hence their products usually are of good quality.

it used to be that brand names were definately better than generics. but nowadays, there are lots of private label brands that are just as good as the brand names because the brands are basically manufacturing those private labels. like any product, you should try each one out and see how you like it (for example, I hate Target's triple-blade razor) before deciding that if it's as good or not.

some yes, some build to being a brand name from having the quality. Example you said cosmetics covergirl is all fine and dandy but MAC is the best, expensive and the best.

Things like handbags.. hell no. It all depends on the item.

Some of them yes. When an unknown product is good it soon gets popular and turns into a brand name, but that does not mean that all brand names are good products.

oh yes - i think it does make a difference. I didn't have the income to buy the big brands until a few years ago. now i am trying them one by one. for face cleanser Sisheido is the way to go, clarins for make up and ArtTec for hair.

With moisturiser I like to apply it often so a brand name is too expensive for the way I use it. I still use Nivea (which is the brand i have used my whole life - in case you are testing brand loyalty theory also)

I had a teacher in college that said some of the brand names manufactured for the stores under their labels. I would definitely try the generic products before I made a decision though.

Of course! They are not diluted,so you use less, the research is there-s by experts in the field-so the product is better. You really do get what you pay for. Especially hair products.

Ever notice that when you use a body butter knock-off,it just isn't the same as the original? There you go.

Some really high-end brands do expect you to pay for their name, though.

With some things and not others.

Shampoo - I love Suave's knock-off of Nexxus, and its about $1.50/bottle. You've got to try them to see how they work. Some cheap hair products make your hair look like crap. If you have scalp problems: Burts Bees Shampoo, worth the $10 when nothing else on the market worked to heal my daughters scalp.

I will pay more for a bra from victoria's secret because it has been my experience that the cheap bras I get at other stores - even if they are cute and under $10 - fall apart in no time! (You can buy their bras at a reasonable price during the semi-annual sale)

Cosmetics - lets rule out the high priced department store stuff. Yes, they work fine, but worth $20/compact? Not really. Sticking to the off-the-shelves brands: I like Loreal or Neutrogena for foundation, Almay coming in third. Not always the cheapest but treat my skin well and match my skin tone. I've tried tons of mascara, I usually buy whatever waterproof one is one sale. Best for the money: Great lash and Wet & Wild (yes, wet & wild - try it) Currently using one by MaxFactor I got on sale, and looks great. doesnt rub off. Lipsticks, unless you NEED your lipstick to last 12+hours (I dont) I choose an inexpensive shade I like - my favorties are usually from Jane (again - cheap!!). If you need it to last all day, cover girl's outlast(?name?) is supossed to work well. Eyeliner that wont wear off - Colorstay/Revlon. I like Almay's eyeliner as well.

Bottom line: you've got to try the products to see if you like them, and determine if you like them enough to pay the price tag attached.

I've tried it all

It depends on the products. For me Dove, Suave, V05, or any other cheap shampoo makes my hair frizz. While Aussie, Garnier, Thermasilk (the more expensive ones) work wonders. I'm not too big into make up, I just use Cover Girl and Maybelline usually, whoever has the nicer colors I'm looking for at the time. When it comes to foods and medicines, they usually are the exact same thing in a different wrapper. Listerine Whitening states on their bottle that particular product's recipe is not sold to any generic lables. But the other Listerines (cool mint flavor.) are. Robotussin and Equate Tussin are the same formula. One is $8 for a bottle, while the other is only $4, just paying for the label there.
