If building muscle is your goal i would suggest beginning a routine concentrating on compound movements (more than one muscle group) 3-4 times per week. Supplement with a quality protein supplement and multi-vitamin.

you cant lose weight and gain muscle because muscle is heavier so you can either do one or the other. protien for muscle dont know for weight loss.

I personally like Muscle Milk because it gives a good portion of protein which will help to build lean muscle which will help to burn fat more efficiently.
