How many beats per minute is a healthy heartrate?!

Question:
I am a 37 year old male. I measured my heartbeat and it was 58 beats per minute. I have started going back to the gym once a week for cardio (30 minutes per workout).

Is this heartrate normal?
Answers:
Not unless your on digoxin. The average heart rate is 72 beats per minute. Now not everyone will be 72bpm but at
37 your heart rate should be a little closer to normal. See a doctor and see what he says.

Other Answers:
If you are in great shape, there might not be any problems with that rate, if its a resting rate. If your blood pressure is at a reasonable level at that heart rate, its probably not a bad thing at all. That just means that your heart is that much more efficient. But like he said, I would talk with your doctor. (I know guys in their late 30's with resting heart rates in the upper 40's. of course they're marathon runners.)
