How can I get over a really traumatic experience??!

Question:
I ended up in a really horrible place a while ago. All of my dignity was literally stripped off of me and I shudder at just the thought of it. It's left me feeling really dirty and worthless.I'm questioning the virtues of staying alive? I just cant get over it!!Is there anything I can do or should I just opt out and end it all?
Answers:
I understand what you are feeling right now. I do not mean to preach. Time will heal everything. Slowly, but surely, you will come to terms with your problems. Seek the help of family and friends. If that is not possible seek professional help. The past will be just a memory a few years down the line. Do not do anything rash. Avoid thinking about it. Take up a hobby. Keep yourself busy. Do not think of ending your life. Believe in yourself. And believe in God. Every thing will be alright. Trust yourself. You can do it.

Other Answers:
Seek professional help. Or if you are a member of church or religious group see if they offer counseling.

Quite frankly it sounds like you were raped. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it. First off, you need to say the word. Then you need to see a psychiatrist or rape counselor. No matter how many showers you take, you can't wash that off. You aren't dirty at all. Here is the phone number to a rape crisis hotline. Please call it:

1-800-656-HOPE.
1-800-656-4673.

Talk about it with 1)a trusted friend, 2) a therapist 3) a support group 4) law enforcement 5) a group dedicated to others in similar places. Read- many, many books available. Journal- anything and everything that comes to mind. Later, re-read it. It makes sense in a different sort of way the next time around. Listen to subliminal tapes/cds which have messages of positive self esteem. Opting out is your least effective system to cure the feelings you have. You were made perfect. You still are perfect in spite of what has happened to you. The way seems long sometimes yet the journey is so worth the effort. One who has been there too.

Please, CALL SOMEONE NOW for help! There are many resources out there for you when you are feeling this bad. You don't mention any specifics in your original post but nothing is worth ending your own life! Please call 1-800-784-2433 (1-800-SUICIDE) or 1-800-273-8255 (1-800-273-TALK) - these are national hotlines, and go to http://suicidehotlines.com/ -- there are state hotlines and other links for crisis situations.

Opting out as you put it is NOT the way to go.move on with your life and don't let past trauma bring you down.Seek help from a cousellor or someone that you trust. The best way to get over such an experience is to talk about it. Feel free to mail me.

Hurting yourself is not a option. Trauma happens, then again you will also score the winning point, get the girl, save the day, win affection, rescue the damsel and earn the admiration of a child. Hang in there, it's tough, but there are wonders so miraculous and shiny that words cannot do justice.

Therapy is the best advice I can offer you. You need to find professional help, talk to someone.
