Going Blonde!?!

i have dark brown hair and recently got red added, i disliked it but thought the red would fade. i guess i was wrong. Is my only solution to bleach my hair because i would love to go blonde? How would i do that effectivly without ruining my hair's health? What's the best product to use if you are doing it at home? should i do it at home?

The simplest solution to the red highlights you don't like - put some brown dye on your hair.
I've tried to assist friends with dark hair to bleach it light, it's a mess and you'll fry your hair. If you're determined to go blonde, go to a professional.
