What's so bad about amenorrhea?!

Question:
To start: I had amenorrhea for about fourteen months. And no, I wasn't and am not pregnant.

I went to see a doctor in January, had an ultrasound, all that jazz. Predictably, the lining had gotten too thick, so I was put on provera to make menstruation start again. The side effects were frankly a bit hellish, but when I told my doctor she essentially told me to shut up and take the provera. And I recognize that she's the medical professional, and it's possible that knows what she's talking about more than me! but I really don't relish going back on that medication for another two-month menses.

If you have to, feel free to yell "go back to your doctor!" or "take the damn medication, you idiot!" But please also answer what's so bad about just letting the lining get thicker?
Answers:
It puts you at a higher risk of cancer when your lining builds up. It can be hard for you to get pregnant when you are ready. Also it is an indication of a serious disease called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which can cause diabetes, high blood pleasure, cancer, high cholesterol, etc. The folling website is great. You need to check it out. It sounds like you have PCOS. The website is great because it will give you other great links too.

Other Answers:
You should definitely get a new doctor (a gynecologist would be best for this health issue) because she isn't taken your condition seriously. I know that there are diseases out there that can cause amenorrhea. So your answer is that amenorrhea is bad because you could have a disease or something.
