I need master minds on this one. I have trouble sleeping and take prescribed med!


Question:
I have to be to work in 5 hours. I didn't get off work until 12am. So already I am limited. My sleep doctor prescribed me to take 2 Ambien at night when I am only supposed to take one. I took 2 and as of right now, 2 are not helping me. So I took one more. That's not helping me either. I also have the flu.
What do I do? There is no way I am going to get enough sleep to even sleep a little to make it in to work so what do I call in sick with? The flu? Insomnia? What?
People I work with know I've been sick and they know i take meds for sleeping problems so I don't know which route to take. Help me out.

right now in my world its 2:45am so I am thinking if i can fall asleep within 30 minutes, that might be enough sleep if I don't wake up until 7 and then rush to work, but right now i just feel really weird because of the extra pills i took that i wasn't supposed to. So I'm like wide awake and high. Some body help me and give me some real answers please.

ok first relax. Second make up your mind that you are not going to work tomorrow. That should make you feel better enough to concentrate on relaxing enough to go to sleep. Unfortunately you will have a sleep debt which your body will make you repay at some stage, and you will not function at work as best you should. That wouldn't fair to you or your work mates.

second,i think you need to find out the cause of your sleeping problem,so that you could be given an appropriate treatment.a psychiatrist could help.
and yes,avoid coffee or any food that has caffeine in it.

Try turning off the light and trying to stay awake. That usually works for me. Also(and this isn't meant as a joke) an orgasm is usually enough to knock most people out. Definately don't take any more pills though. You'll OD. You have Flu which isn't helping so that's what you should ring in sick with. I bet that when you stop worrying about having to get up in a few hours you'll fall off to sleep ok! Good luck!

Please do not get addicted to the sleeping pills. you are very anxious to sleep & that's a wrong state of mind. sleeping is a natural, restorative process. we don't force ourselves to sleep. we don't have to be anxious to sleep. anxiety brings insomnia & other problems. there are, of course, times when we can't sleep due to stress. so let it be. the alternatives to sleeping pills are natural herbs like Valerian, Kava Kava, etc. take care.
