Good answer Celina G! LOL I would also add make sure you are not brushing your hair when it is wet. It is surprising how many people use a brush on wet hair. That really aggravates split ends and can make them worse.

The Paul Mitchell Super Strong line is awesome. There is a HUGE difference between salon products and over the counter stuff. After running my fingers through people's hair for over 20 years, trust me, you can tell when they are using garbage on their hair. It makes a big difference. Lots of time the quality of hair will show in the quality of product they use.
(The 53 year old lady with the waist length hair is blessed with good genes!)

Just make sure you get regular trims. If you're running your fingers through your hair and your fingers catch in the ends, that is a sure sign you need a trim.

they are cut off. you can't repair them.

hot oil treatments and slow trimming out the ends a half inch a month from a man married to a hair dresser

First off..I use suave shampoo and conditioner..its cheap! Secondly, never blow dry your hair. My hair is down to my waist. I am 53 years old and my hair still isnt gray!
Sorry Celina.I was assuming that she knew they needed to be cut off..just pointing out that for 53 my hair is extremely healthy! I live with a beautician and good old clean hair and a dab of conditioner works well. Dont over wash your hair and NEVER blow dry it!

Put olive oil on your split ends, let it sit for about a half hour, shampoo, then condition.

Works for me!

Once they split, that's pretty much it. A good trim will get rid of them. The best thing is to prevent them from splitting. You can use a variety of products but I prefer beer. Yep, beer keeps the split ends from coming, use once a week just as you would shampoo. And no, you won't smell like an alcoholic.

SCISSORS.lol. No I totally recommend Back to Basics normalizing shampoo and conditioner. It's $20 a bottle HOWEVER.you don't use as much so it costs the same in the long run. It will make any hair problem vanish.

The best thing to do is get a hair cut, 1 to 2 inches above the split ends. Garnier Fructis has this great line out: "Long and Strong." That stuff is great! They have leave in conditioners and all sorts to avoid any future breakage.

cut ur hair

get a hair cut

a nice trim at the beauty shop to get rid of them. them use a good conditioner and a trim evry other month at the shop.

trim off your ends.

The only thing you can do is to have your hair cut. Make sure you get enough cut off. Once you get split ends there is nothing you can do to repair them. I highly recommend buying shampoo and conditioner from a hair salon. I was a hairstylist for 12 years. There is a BIG difference between over the counter ans salon shampoos. Make sure to get your hair trimmed every 4 to 6 weeks.

Ok, Bobbalou, you are right, Orlando, sort of, Try Dave What was the question?? Don Kitty, helps to prevent them, not get rid of them. Dream Lander, good valid advice, Mojo, ya, scissors was the correct answer & although BTB is good stuff it will only help in prevention. And Zagato I'll take your word on Garnier, but would personally recommend trying Paul Mitchell's SuperStrong Shampoo & Conditioner, and Hair repeair treatment 1x a week to hold out on the splits as long as possible, but the are inevitable, and natural and no matter what you do or use, they will come, get a trim every 4-6 weeks to remove them and promote healthy growth.

Trimming and try Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner.

You,cant unless you cut your hair. And when you do i would perfer Garnier Fruitics Long And Strong shampoo and conditioner it really helps.

You have to get your split ends trimmed. Oil treatmets are very good to prevent split ends, but you should apply them before you wash your hair and leave them for a while with a plastic cap on, then, wash your hair well.

Olive oil, coconut oil, etc.
Also be sure to get a good moisturizing conditioner.
