I guess it's the same question as why do people have an appendix?

Some people's wisdom teeth grow down properly and so they can use them like normal teeth. The proplem with most people is that their mouths are too small to fit the teeth so they grow at funny angles.

Other Answers:
for the same reason we have an appendix, and a tailbone. it's something that humans used a very very long time ago but we do not use anymore.

so they can cause us pain sob sob na its from when we ate more meat and had larger jaws as evaloution has developed are jaws have gotten smaller and so there isnt engough room for r teeth and we jst havnt lost this extra tooth yet, same for appendix's and stuff well eventually lose them

There are debates on the evolutionary purpose of wisdom teeth. One theory suggests that the diet of our stone-age ancestors produced “wear-and-tear" on their teeth, resulting in jawbone growth and providing space for the third molars. As modern human diets evolved, jaw lines shrank and third molars remained in hiding.
