What to do for crackling knees?!

Question:
I am very out of shape but I just started an exercise program. When I lift weights with my legs my knees make horrible crackling noises. Is this ok? What should I do?
Answers:
Well I have the same problem every time I kneel down my knees make this loud crack noise, well I looked into it and there is a pill called glucosamine. You can pick it up just about anywhere (even Walmart) this pill will help restore the fluid in my joints and will help to stop the cracking. This pill is not for everyone, it works good for my mom and dad but it made me sick to my stomach, but that is 2 out of 3 so give it a try and see if it works for you.

You shouls try to increase you range of motion in your joints.Working your legs on a "bike"type of exercise will warm up the tissues.Do warm up exercises first, and do not continue if there is any "real"pain.I don't mean just uncomfortable, but sharp pain or a "pulling sensation"..It will take some time,The ligaments and tendones don't have a rich blood supply, and get their blood and such by absorbing it through the fine membranes that surround it.You could also bring this up to your Doc on your next visit.

It's ok and may go away. You may be developing osteoarthritis, but right now, you're probably ok. Keep up the excerise, focusing on straightening your quadriceps. Strong leg muscles will help to stabalize your knee and slow down damage to your joint. I've found that taking glucosamine and condritin has helped my knee pain or at least kept it from getting worse; there's a recently published study that says it's doesn't actually help, but it seems to help me. If your knees start to hurt, stop doing the movement that hurts them, rest and ice your knees and take ibuprofen or another pain reliever.

The more you excerise and strengthen your leg musles, especially your quadriceps, the less you may experience your knees crackling. It may sound bad now and there may be periods where the crackling returns, but keep working your muscles and knee joints.
