i think i pulled my lat muscle, how long does it take to recover?!

If you just pulled it, time should heal it just fine. If it's torn, however, that could be more serious. I would say give it a couple of weeks (relax, don't stress it out), and if it's still pretty painful, have a doctor check it out.
