stop them from sitting around. Excersice can be a major factor in obesity. Healthy food options such as vegies and whole grains and lean cuts of meat are great. Avoid fast food as much as possible, they have tons of fat and calories and little nutrition.

I worked as a camp counselor for some years, and I would say that when kids are in a situation like a camp, a soccer team, or even family games, they just have a lot of fun and naturally don't overeat or under-exercise.

However, many kids have terrible diets and may not have good sleep habits so those can be watched also.

Also, people have fewer problems when they feel secure and happy. So whatever you can do to give them a healthful environment will help. lol rkl

They should follow the kids activity pyramid and eat fresh fruits and veggies, stop allowing sugar intake and highly refined carbs (ie white bread, potatoes, white rice). He should thin out naturally with those tips.
