Your friend can try to use a natural remedy to lighten her armpits. :) All you need is lemon that you will slice in half and rub it in the armpits. It's effective but it takes a long time to see the effect.
My mom also tried this product called Amira Magic Cream and it really did lighten her armpits. For maintenance, she has her armpits waxed regularly to not only lighten but smoothen her armpits.
And maybe the deodorant your friend is using is also a cause of her dark armpits. Maybe she could try using another deodorant.

if shes realy worried i think there is some lightning products that are supposed to evenout skin tone but i cant say they can be used on arm pits
