I have no idea why people are saying they aren't the same. Don't listen to them. I have spent 5 years of my life around a hospital after my mom had brain surgery.
Codine and oxycontin are in the same codone family. Shouldn't be a big problem if you mix them, but they are very habit forming, so you probably shouldn't.
Edit: Am I missing something? Where does this person say they are on probation or taking a drug test?

They're both narcotics. Not the best idea to go popping pills if you're on probation of any kind though.
Sorry but codeine is NOT like super Tylenol! it is an opiate. first of all when you go in for a drug test you will of course tell them that you are prescibed a codeine medication because you know it will show up. this is going to show up as codeine. when the center knows that you are using a opiate they do a special test to determine what you are taking. Oxycontin is going to show up as Oxycontin hydrochloride. so yes it is going to show up as something different. you really shouldn't mix the two of those. it sounds like you may have a problem and should talk to your doctor
