i had a masatomy of rigt breast side.now i am going through chemoterapy ,i feel!

Question:
is there any thing i can do to prevent hair lost due to chemoterapy?
Answers:
not really. Some people don't lose their hair, but I believe most do. My mother went to get a wig before she lost her hair and the matched it up really well. People always tell you that your hair will grow back better than ever, but we just thought they were trying to be nice. Well, when Mum's hair grew back it was nothing short of stunning and had waves in there that she had lost 35 years earlier when she was pregnant (and then breastfeeding) my eldest sister. You hang in there. chemo is a rotten thing to go through, but it is fighting those evil cancer cells. I'm going to add you to my prayer list just so that you know that somewhere out here a total stranger is thinking of you and wishing you well.

smoke pot. it keeps the nausia away, gives some kind of appetite, and help keep the food down. illegal, yes, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. sorry. the pills that the doctor can give you is a chemical of the real thing. it does not work!

nothing i can think of for the hair to stay in. sunblock, a straw hat and bandana are all i can think of to help sensitive skin of scalp.

wishing you well and prayers for you and your family

For the nausea as a result of chemotherapy, the best AND SAFEST substance out there is marajuana. People who smoke marajuana to ease the nausea and improve their appitite generally experience less of a hair-loss problem. While there is nothing in marajuana that helps the hair-loss problem specifically, cancer psychologists believe the "feeling of well being" that marajuana smokers experience helps reduce stress and fears, and stress and emotional upset will contribute to excessive hair loss in even a healthy person. Many holistic practitioners recommend self-actualization, yoga, and meditation with good results. Even if you do lose your hair, it WILL grow back. The important thing is to get well, and feel as good as you can while you are doing it, because that will make the treatment more effective.

the nausea..well if you are a POT user it will help 100% with the vomiting and nausea.

The hair thing is temporary and will grow back. Get yourself some wigs and scarves and just think IT WILL GROW BACK!

Sorry to hear that my mom had breast cancer and they should have given you a prescription for the nausea..as for losing your hair I'm sorry to say but there is nothing they can do. At first it will shed and your hair will become thinner and then it will just disappear. You should shave your head. You should try contacting this support group Y-Me, they have people that have gone through this and they talk with you and call u and check up on you. Once again I'm sorry.

My mom beat breast cancer three years ago.and i was with her every step of the way!

gud luck, go to health shop they have herbal remedies to help

Phenergan will help with the nausea. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do for the hair loss except to be patient and know that it is temporary and worth the price of getting rid of the cancer. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

No. Hair loss is, unfortunately, a normal side effect of chemo. Take heart from Kylie Minogue, who has been through what you are going through. She has been such a strong lass and is an encouragement to us all.

You are going to recover. The chemo is the pits, but it's only for quite a little while.

Ask your Dr for some medication to settle you stomach, if you want to try something natural good old ginger beer helps. All my immediate female relations have gone through what you have and as other people have said wigs are very good in the interim until treatment is over and your hair regrows, some women prefer scarves and there are some very pretty ones about. Good luck and best wishes!

My Aunt had the samething and she also lost her hair, but found some very nice wigs. It's natural to lose your hair during chemo, but hers has grown back very nicely. And Good Luck with all

My friend went thro this treatment too. Unfortunatly there is nothing you can do bout hair loss as thats an effect form the chemo. My friend just weres hats / benies to make her feel more comfortable about the situation. She feels sick one day and ok the next. Chemo does mess up you moods and feeling etc. Its ok hon. I hope you get well soon. Goodluck

i have no idea what exactly u can do, i think there should be some meds of some type for vomiting. i just wanted 2 say, stay strong! i hope it all turns out well for you. as far as the hair loss, i think thats just part of it and will have 2 wait till its done so that it will grow back. unfortunatly one of the bad side effects of chemo! best of wishes to you!!
