Hair dying?!

Question:
Ok i had once, blond hair but i look better brunette. However i tried black and it looked good, but i want to try to go back to a dark brown with light alburn tint.

Can i use a lightening kit to lighten it and then dye it brown or should i bleach it?

I don't really want to bleach it because that can kill your hair. And i don't have a bunch of cash to get it done at a salon, so what do you recomend?

You can usually find something that's LIKE a bleaching kit but different, in the grocery store. It comes in a grey and pink box but I can't remember the name; could be made by Clairol. It's made to specifically remove hair-dye, rather than bleaching your own color. Try that instead of trying to bleach hair that's been dyed black. It will turn GREEN.. really!
After, if the faded color's not too bad, try and live with it for a few days to a week, washing less than usual and conditioning EVERY day (try hot oil, too; at least once). then, go ahead and pick out the color(s) you want to have. If you want to have a streaked or highligted look, buy different colors and paint the dye on some strands/
portions. Again, don't ever try to bleach colored hair!
If you have used henna, you may have to try extra washings (with dish-detergent).
Anyhow, I high- and low-light my hair all of the time, using up to 4 different colors and it works out really well!BTW: if using more than one color, use foil or saran wrap to keep the hair colors seperated from each other Hope it works well for you!

Go with bald..

bleach it

I really am not sure but I think that you need to bleach it first to get all the black out and then you can dye it after that. Maybe you could bleach it first and then dye it later? Good luck!

you can probably just use highlights

Quit dying your hair, what the hell is a matter with people. No one has got real hair anymore. Is everyone so insecure that they have to change appearences all the time. STOP IT!

The biggest thing to remember about Hair Dye is that you can not cover a color with a color. If you want it to be Brown and it is Black you will have to bleach you hair. You will then get a base to work with.

Then you can dye your hair and highlight it to your liking.

dont bleach it, do you have a sallys beauty store or something similar near you, there trained to give expert advice and have good products-not expensive

Go buy auburn haircolor at the store - DO NOT PUT BLONDE HIGHTLIGHTS IF YOU USE AUBURN HAIRCOLOR, IT WILL TURN PURPLE - BEEN THERE DONE THAT!!

I recommend you to lighten it and put highlights. Don't bleach it because your hair can fall out.
I go to sally's and buy hot oil treatments and or conditioners for colored hair.Good luck!

if you are now dark, the best solution would be to lighten it with a lighter color brown. That won't give you the results that you want right off, & don't forget to wait at least 3 months before coloring again, or it will ruin your hair anyway. every three months, dye it another shade lighter untill you get it. What ever you do, do not use anything ash, because that is the stuff that gives your hair the green tint.Don't bleach it, because you are right, that ruins every strand, & don't strip it, because then you have frizz. There is a product called cholestorol, for your hair, that will hydrate it. I hope that you can get the color that you want.

use a colour remover then buy the brown you want.

you can't kill your hair.hair is composed of dead cells.it can only look dry and limp.if you don't invest in a good salon you might regret it for the rest of your life.leave your hair alone

i would lighten it because bleaching could ruin your scalp

Dying has to do with death. I hope your hair really isn't dying!

Dyeing is what you do to change the color of your hair.
