What stockings should I wear with my vintage dress for Senior Prom ?!

Question:
I found a fantastic vintage dress to wear to my Senior Prom. It is totally 1960's, black satin type with fitted top and a flowing, but almost fitted bottom. I am going to wear a garterbelt with the 1960 style stockings, but my mother says I should stick with the seamless stockings, while I really want the kind with the seam and little heel.

I an a fan of Bettie Page, and people say I look a lot like her, and those are the kind of stockings she was always photographed in, at least according to the movie trailers.

Question 1 what do you think I should go with seams or no seams
Question 2 Where do I find them I want the real 1960's nylons not the thick stretchy kind.

Before you answer you should know I am 5'6" and wear heels a lot so I know I can carry this off. Also my date is a 6' 2" college junior so we arn't giong to look like a couple of overdressed kids. We have gone out to dinner before, and we easily look 21, because they always give us a wine list.
Answers:
Go with the seams. they are called full fashioned stockings and you can find them at an online site called stockingstore.com, they have a whole page of them, you will see the link.

If you decide to go with the seamless vintage nylons they have a whole page of them too they are called RHT stockings.(reinforced heel and toe) because they have little dark reinforcements . They are also very sheer and totally 1960's. Good luck!

Go with the seams..it will add a nice touch

Look online I am sure you can find them somewhere..lingerie shops carry them..might have to have someone else get them for you since you are underage

The dress sounds pretty groovy. You should definately go for the seams. Although the higher the heel the better they look because the lift defines your calf and the seam. Suggestion: Where a higher heel for pictures, dinner, etc.and take a pair of dancing shoes.

The only place I have EVER been able to find the old-style stockings is Adult shops. They tend to have the very sexiest of stockings, garters.etc.

just one fashionista to another

Definately wear the seams. They are super hot with a dress like that. Don't listen to the old haggs that want you to go bare legged. That look went out last year.

Blondie is right, seams are definitely the way to go, they are called full fashioned stockings. And she's right about stockingstore.com . They do have tons of them, I shop there myself.

Don't listen to the bare leg frumps still hung up on last years fashion fad. That look is out, and the sophisticated look in, so go with it. You obviously have the physical stature and style to pull it off, so don't let the matronly moms change your sense of style.

I think I would definitely go with the seamed stockings with that dress. Make sure they are black. I am sure you can find them online.

What's up with the wench telling you to go out in a vintage satin dress to your senior prom, in bare legs? She must sit around and watch TV everyday, cuz the only place that's in is the academy awards, where they can show off the $10,000 gowns, $1,000,000 jewels and $2000 sandals. Upscale is in this year, and your outfit is definitely upscale.

seam, if you are ready to face problems if the lines are not straight.
i woulld do a google search or look with Wolford

I would go with the full fashioned stockings with seams and Cuban heel. That is the real Betty Paige type and should be great with your dress.

I am interested in her too and just found a great picture page on the net. check it out below, they sell full fashioned stockings there too.

I think the sheer black seamed ones would look great with a vintage dress. I am assuming you are wearing a black garter belt.

If you are going vintage I would do seams and pumps. Keeping seams straight can be a challenge, especially if you are thin. I suggest, trying to keep them as tight as possible so they don't twist around, by adjusting the garters all the way up. It may feel a little funny at first but will be worth not having to check all the time.

if you go with seams.. make sure you have someone straighten them out after you put them otherwise your gonna look all twisted up..Bette paige is AWESOME! MEeeeow!

Seams ,,,try Victoria secrets

Why do you want to wear stockings anyway?

Seams. But fishnet stockings were all the rage in the sixties.

I think you should go without seam stockings for seams will draw attention to back of legs and away from dress so which do you wish people to notice-the stockings or the dress. The reason Bettie Page wore seamed stockings is because seamless weren't available during her time and if you can see seams in pin-ups ere used to draw attention to legs. go with the smooth leg and let everyone admire your dress and you.

get seams.its trendy anyway..

Senior prom, last chance for school romance, go for the seams, very classy look. Well if you have done this before your probably gonna be the hottest couple at the prom.

Sounds like no need to worry about this.

umm u should wear some red fishnets.totaly hot

black stocking

wear tights black tights with that dress and a slip or a petticoat but as I done so much reading about girls and mens fashion more on ladies/girls fashion over the time and know what dresses girls should wear with what I go for black thin skin cloour balck tights and may be witha slip underneath the dress

It does not matter, you are getting some anyway. Have fun.
