Young women wearing girdles?!

Question:
I know they call them "shapewear" these days, but who here is using girdles regularly (more than just once a week)? Which do you recommend - I'm about to buy a few. Ladies only please. Serious answers only.
Answers:
I hear spanx are great. I personally admit that I have a full on corset style one I wear when the occasion calls for it (ie. form fitting dress).

You can usually find a wide selection at the undergarment area at department stores.

Spanx.

Hehe, girdles! I haven't heard that word in AGES!

I don't often wear shapewear, but I have used it on occasion at times in my life. I really think they're a great tool for women, especially women who are required to "dress" for work, which was the case for me. I had several pants suits, skirted suits, and tailored dresses which no matter how they were nipped , didn't fit right because of my own personal shortcomings--and shapewear provided an easy and inexpensive solution which gave me the fit I was after.

Unfortunately, you didn't specify what it is you're trying to improve or correct, so giving you advice as to what you should purchase is going to be like taking a shot in the dark.

If you are attempting to correct a no-longer perky bosom, orless than ample bosom, for that matter - invest in a bustier, demi, balconier/shelf bra with some formed cups. Most of the shapewear camisoles, tanks, shapedresses/slips have built-in bras now, so if you're also trying to give a smoother and firmer appearance to your tummy area, while shaping your bosom, those are perfect.

If you've got some extra junk in your trunk, and sometimes it seems to have a mind of its own, there are some really nice solutions out there for the taming, shaping, and overall correction of a wayward fannie / derriere.

Waist cinchers are really handy too, if you wear lots of form fitting items and would like to define your silhouette, and perhaps receive gentle back support as well. One of my coworkers used a waist cincher after she came back from her maternity leave, until she could lose the weight from her pregnancy, nonetheless, she looked great everyday!

I'm sure you're already schooled in the area of control top pantyhose, so aside from including it here, I won't go into detail.

Anyhow, I just wanted to add that there are quite a few other really nice and comfortable options out there for enhancing your silhouette and improving the fit of your clothing, not to mention providing support when needed.

Of course, there are always the convenient options of shopping at local or area department stores who do their best to get in quality unmentionables, but sometimes don't meet all the needs of their customers, which is why shopping online is a good option, too. And, I can't forget to mention that there are always specialty stores in the mall or shopping center like Victoria's Secret, and Frederick's of Hollywood which are devoted to solving the foundational fashion crises of modern women.

Now, if you plan to actually go to a store and try on some shapewear items, I think it's a good idea for you to either wear or bring a few items so you can see how the shapewear is modifying the drape and fit of your clothing. This will also help you decide which pieces you should buy, and which ones you don't need.

In closing, I'm including shopping links so you can see some of the differences by manufacturer for you to peruse.

Happy shaping and binding! =)

I wear one quite often mot because I have to but because i kike the feeling. I always wear stockings to work, and sometimes with a tight skirt the garters show. The girdle holds up the stockings, and does the trick, plus I kind of get off in it.

My boyfriend likes me to wear it with stockings sometimes when we have sex, he says its a turn on and makes me tighter.

Go to an online store called stockingsore.com. they have a great selection of girdles and stockings, plus an 800 number. They use the customer service girls as models so they are very knowledgeable.

I like wearing them when I wear a tight business suit. I always wear stockings, and sometimes a garter belt will show under a fitted skirt. They give me a nice sensation all day too. I'm quite thin, so I don't really need it, but then I also wear a corset and waist cinch sometimes.

I am a lingerie freak, and love to mix it up. The Rago girdles are very nice, check out website pantiesareus.com under shapewear, and you will see a good selection. I am 26, so these are new to me but I do like them, I have two, one in black, and one in white.

Well, you asked about young women but perhaps the experience of a 50 year old can help. The sources already given are good. I also have found some very good girdles at Wal-Mart, Kohl's, & of course Penny's & Sears. I also have found some inexpensive brief style panty girdles at Walgreen's. Silkies also have some nice ones they call sculptz. I wore one today as a matter of fact. I'm not heavy but they certainly give my basckside a better look. I never have had a guy copmplain either. As a matter of fact I am quite sure that they are a turn on for most guys.
