Cleansing will help with that. Douches will wipe out the good bacteria causing increased risk for infections. Uurinary tract infections left untreated can cause damage to the kidneys. Diabetics are also at high risk for kidney problems. Have a yearly physical. have Blood glucose monitored, especially if you are at a risk for or have diabetes. Avoid carbonated beverages. Avoid excess sugars.Balance of diet, excercise and hygeine is best. Also, do not hold the urine for increased lengths of time. This can lead to problems. Stay well.

Drink cranberry juice, its good for your kidneys and your liver.

Oh and a comment on the other answer so far-- whiskey will affect your liver more than it will your kidneys.

Drink plenty of purified water and lots of fruits and veggies in your diet continuosly not just for a week or two it needs to become a lifestyle.

One of the most important rules is drink at least 2 liters of water per day.
You should also avoid too salty food.

Drink a gallon of water each day. If you are peeing any color other than (CLEAR) you are dehydrated and need more water. If you flush your kidneys this way you will fight off kidney stones from staying in your kidneys later in life, take it from someone who knows.

Stay away from sodas, alcohol, and even too much juice (because of the acid) doesn't help. The main thing is keep a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet. If you like to drink juice then buy a juicer and have the real deal w/out all the perservatives and processed man made garbage. Ultimaltely, however, water will always be the miracle drink for your body. I drink distilled. There's no way in the world that city water is healthy. Or well water, w/ a purifier in the sink is very good tasting as well as, good for you too.
