What does it mean when you wake up in the morning with a headache?!

Question:
One or two mornings a week I wake up with a headache that doesn't go away until hours later. They make me feel sluggish and like I am going to throw up. I'm not pregnant, so that rules that out. The only thing I have tried that half-way works is Aleve. Wonder what could be causing all this. Money is a factor about me going to the doctor but I plan on it as soon as I can.
Answers:
could be dehydration -- drink more water

Other Answers:
Stop drinkin alcohol..

Allergy season?

Could be many things: your pillow, the way you sleep, something medical. I know for a fact that having severe headaches is one of the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

you had a bad dream

Does it feel like pressure? Like your head is going to explode? if so you could have psuedo tumor ceribri, it mimics a brain tumor and can be fixed my meds or spinal taps. I have it and the headacheds are worse in the morning.. go see a doctor and have then check the pressue in your eyes.

do you go to sleep with wet hair? if you do, that might be it. or maybe you're not getting enough sleep or you're stressing too much. iono.

Replace your bed sheets and pillows, it will probably help. If you have allergies get allergy free pillows.

If you are old may be you have a Blood Pressure. If you are Young the chances of being pregnant- Morning sickness. If we rule out both then head ache usually occurs when the Intra cranial pressure goes high with a tumor or some issue which might have a vomiting depending on the area where it is. So better check with a doctor.

I have the same problem. It's probably sleep apnea. Or it could be allergies or sinus problems. Sleep apnea sounds more like it. Since you have money problems, start sleeping with a fan in your face. When you have sleep apnea, you need oxygen and in place of oxygen, you can use a fan. Just try it and see if it works. God bless you!

try these four things:
1 is your room sufficiently ventilated? lack of fresh air is the best way to get a headache.
2 drink half a glass of spring water before sleep.
3 don't eat heavy food late at night.
4 you may be sleeping too much. get more exercise and don't sleep more than 7 hours per night.

I have this same problem and my doctor said it might just be the way my neck is twisted when I sleep which causes me to have a migraine in the morning, try changing your pillow to see if if helps, I stopped using two pillows and it seems alot better now>

Mean you are gonna have a bad day.
Try changing your pillow

It could just be that your pregnant..if your having them so often.

Restless sleep or sleep deprivation can be a cause of headaches upon waking. Some people also wake up with headaches due to decreased oxygen to the brain caused by sleep apnea (usually seen in obese people). Caffeine can be a culprit too, people who consume large quantities of caffeine during the day can wake up with headaches because the body is experiencing a decreased level of caffeine (caffeine withdrawels). Migraines are another culprit that afflict many people with headaches. Some headaches can be a sign/symptom of high blood pressure. There are many other reasons people wake up with headaches. To best find what is causing your headaches you may want to talk to your doctor and get a check up.

Your headache in the morning is due to problems in digestion of your late last night dinners. Try to eat earlier in the evening. If you eat late and go to bed right away, acidic gasses from your stomach due to digestive process will inflame your sinuses and you will get a headache in the morning. The reason it goes away eventually is that inflammation subsides due to upright position and disposition of your stomach downward. Also do not smoke cigarettes or ingest acidic deserts late at night, it will slow digestive process and you will have hours of those said gasses. Most digestive problems can be resolved by relaxing and focusing on eating. Never multi task when eating. My remedy for indigestion is candle and flowers with your dinner instead of TV and Internet.
