I'm 24 and recently returned home to visit with my parents. I've only been here!

Question:
to leave-they are driving me insane.I have not been home for 1.5 years and I want to end my two week visit soon-Would this be really really rude??

The Problem lies with the fact that they still think I am a kid. They come home and expect me to drop everything that I'm doing to go and run an errand-do the dishes, sweep the floor, mow the lawn etc etc. While I am fine doing these things, I hate the way they boss me around and I can't stand their tone of voice-my mother told me the other day I was disgustingly overweight(while I am overweight, I am 5'8 and weigh 150, I feel this is a bit of an overstatement).
This is something new-they never spoke to me like that before.
Also, they have a hard time listening. When I speak, I get cut-off, They don't listen and they are firm in their own convictions. Should I just leave and not deal with it or is this all part of being home with the old foggies?
Answers:
Yeah your parents think you are still a child! And to them you will always be a child. Just let them know in a nice way that you are not a child anymore.

I am 26 and a mother and my parents still treat me like a baby, sometimes I just want to scream but I don't. I just say to them, I will take that into account and leave it at that.

I am their last child so I try to understand them. I love them and I would hate to miss out on time with them cause I was mad and acting like a baby!

I find the more you do the more you are expected to do. So if you don't want to do those things then don't or just do a few. Maybe you should get away and see some old friends, go out for a drink or something.

Tell them that u are an adult and not a kid any more and its bout time they start treating u like one!

Observation

A. Try to understand why they are behaving this way, You've met after a long time and they may be concerned about you.
B. If you have already stayed 5 days, you could make them happy by tolerating this for the rest of the time
C. Deal with it in due course bit by bit daily.
D. They are your parents and they would be very sad if you leave before ur visit.

N!
