Answers:
Excedrin Migraine pills are crap. They do not work. What I had to do was go to the emergency room three times and get a shot of Demerol. The hospital contacted my doctor and she saw me for migraines. I am now taking Relpax 40mg at the onset of a migraine. They are $110 for 6 pills, but they are worth every penny. If you don't want to go to the ER, make an appointment with your doctor, who will probably order an MRI and CAT scan to rule out actual brain trouble. If your CAT scan and MRI come back ok, then they can start you on an anti-migraine medicine. The doctor can probably prescibe a medicine before the tests, so that you aren't suffering. There are many anti- migraine medications out there, Relpax, Imitrex, Amerge, Frova, Maxalt, Zomig, etc. Also, if you smoke, it would help your migraines if you quit, avoid coffee, red wine, aged cheeses and preserved meats. I have found that if I get a migraine and do not take anything for it and go to bed, it is 10 times worse the next day. I hope this helps you. Good Luck!!

Other Answers:
make sure you have plenty of potassium in your diet (try banana's) as a prevenative, and talk to your doctor about medicines if OTC's like excedrin migraine aren't working for you.

i also suufer, the dr. prescribed imitrex for me but it is very costly about 80 dollars for two shots. I now use excedrin migraine for mine and making your self throw up helps it relieves the pressure on you brain. i know they really hurt and i feel for you

There are a lot of things that can help with migraines. I get sinus migraines and what helps a lot is feeling where your head hurts, feeling for a pulse, and putting light pressure on the pulse point until your pulse slows down. Be careful with this. I don't want to be responsible for anything bad happening. It has worked for me and it really eases the pain. I do this once for about 30 seconds, then go to another pulse point where it hurts and do the same thing.

Other tips are:
-Avoid chocolate
-Avoid monosodium glutamate (MSG)
-Avoid red wine
-Avoid caffeine
-Get 8 hours of sleep a night. too much or too little is bad
-Don't fast or skip meals
-Relax and find ways to handle stress
-Stay away from strong odors and cigarette smoke
-Avoid bright lights and reflected sunlight
-Keep all sleeping patterns regular
-Avoid exercising too intensely
-Avoid loud noises

Foods that can trigger migraines are:
-aged, canned, cured, or procesed meat (bologna, game, ham, herring, hot dogs, pepperoni, sausage)
-aged cheese
-alcoholic beverages (red wine is the worst)
-aspartame (like Splenda; just so you know, my headaches practically went away when I gave up Diet Coke and other diet foods with aspartame)
-brewer's yeast
-caffeine
-beans
-avocados
-canned soup or bouillon cubes
-chocolate, cocoa, and carob
-cultured dairy products (buttermilk, sour cream)
-figs

-raisins
-meat tenderizer
-MSG

Tips to reduce the pain:
-Lie down in a dark, quiet room
-Lie down in a room and cover your eyes with a thick eye pillow
-Put a cold compress or rag over your forehead
-Massage your scalp using a lot of pressure
-Put pressure on your temples (I've found that doing this too much can make migraines worse)
