I am on crutches.and it really hurts my armpits and hands..HELP!!?!

Question:
is there any suggestions to ease the pain on the armpits and hands?
HELP PLEASE!!
Answers:
If you have one "bad" leg for now, what you need to do is put the weight on the good leg, and make sure that the crutches are adjusted to one to two inches lower than your armpit.
Powder your hands before you hold your crutches for walking, and powder the holding area as well. Carry a small baby powder with you on a purse and powder as necessary.
Your sweat might be the sore hand cause.
Also- Make sure your pits are clean.NO DEODORANT.Use powder for your pits as well. Because bacteria and constant rubbing do not go hand in hand.If you have friction burn (constant rubbing of one place) then you really need to lay off the deodorant until your pits are better. The chemicals will make it worse. Allow your pits to heal from the "bruising" Are you doing allot of walking? If you are, your pits will take a daily beating and "re-bruise" over and over.

You can also use a pair of gel hot/ cold ice packs and basically just hold them between your pits. That should help too with the discomfort. You can get the same effect by wetting small washcloths folding and putting each in a sandwich zip-lock plastic baggie and then putting them in the freezer for an hour-instant ice packs (Don't forget to wrap them with a thin cloth or some kitchen paper towels.)

Do not despair, think that everyday that goes by, will be one day closer to not having to use crutches anymore.

Speedy recovery!

if it is hurting your armpits, maybe it isnt adjusted at the right height. for your hands, you might try wrapping a cloth or foam sheet around the crutch where you grab it to make it padded and softer (you could try that where your armpit rests too, i suppose). crutches suck :( i was on them last summer. hope you get well soon!
