What should I do after using sun-in on my hair? please help me!!?!

Question:
I used sun-in my hair a few weeks ago and the colour is quite nice - not exactly what i wanted, but ok. it went from v dark blonde to a slightly yellowy blonde. my hair stylist told me that it was awful, and after reading some websites, i've realised that i shouldn't have used it. she said i prob should wait til its grown out, but I'm going to university in 5 months and it'll look awful! she said i shouldn't dye it, but i think my hair could prob stand it, cos it feels just as nice as before the sun-in, and i've read loads of reviews where people's hair got really coarse or fell out, which mine didn't. should i dye it, or use a toner or something? please please help me - i don't want to look awful!!
Answers:
The exact thing happened to me just dye it brown it might go orangey in colour but then just dye it again go for a dark brown that should work.

Toner, NO dyes right now.

YOU shouldn't do anything to it but moisurise it a lot, Sun-in causes a lot of damage it is famous for being the worst thing you can use.
Keep conditioning it for a month or so then go to a good hairdresser get the highest rated one you can afford and get her to colour it or cut it in a style that looks ok
Why risk your hair falling out when you put the next dye on it

my sister used the highliter one and it turned her hair an orangish color so don't feel bad. anyways i think you should do what your stylist said and stick it out and if its still horrible in 5 months then dye it.

i used sun-in and i've been regreting it every since. i used it over a year ago and the color is still growing out. thankfully, i have curly hair so the color doesn't show as much. but my hairstylist totally noticed. sun-in sounds good at the time, but is no bueno after awhile. if you don't want to look awful, try some highlights or something to help cover the color. you should definitely look into dying it -- highlights might be the best way to go. that way you aren't doing all your hair. just bits of it. i would wait a few months and do the highlight thing right before you leave for school. good luck!

I think your hairstylist told you that, so she could fix it and you would pay her any amount of money for the repair. Sun in can dry out your hair so you need a really good leave in conditioner to use for awhile.I've used sun in for years and it has done nothing to my hair but make it lighter and a little dry. If I were you I would go get a colorant that is the same color as your own hair and dye it back. Or go to another beautician and ask their opinion of your hair (without divulging how it got like that) see what they suggest. Also there is usually a number on the box of sun in for help and support and they are trained hair stylist that help you fix the problems you have had.

I'm not a hair stylist. But I would wait atleast a month or two before dye it. My aunt told me years ago that sun-in has something in it that eats away the hair. Until you can dye it.get a very good conditioner.

Maybe for next time you use the sun:

Lemon juice is a natural dye for turning it to blondie
Beer is a good conditioner as well bring out the red in your hair.

I use Cure Care Conditioner Professional Hair & Skin Conditioner from Sally Beauty Store. It's about 6 to 10 dollars for 1 Gallon of it. It makes my hair soft and I love the product.

I used that suff when I was in high school, but I liked my results so I kept it.as it grew out I just trimed off the ends until it was gone.Good luck

hi hun dont panic! im a proffesinal coluorist, you need to get a tretment for your hair preferbly a protein one,use that for about a week, after that get a toner put on your hair this will take the yellowness out of your hair to make it more of a clean blonde, plz do not do this your self go to a stylist to colour it for you ,the best protein based treatment you can get is called redken extreme, its about fifteen pounds and you can carry on using this after you have had your hair coloured so it is not a waste, hope this works out for you.

I'm a stylist from pennsylvania 10 years plus , i lost track.
wow! they still make sun-in? there was a class action suit against them in 2000.
Iv's corrected many run in's with sun in.
what to do , you can go to wal mart if you have one in your area and get a conditioner called - Queen Helene's cholesterol treatment , use this every other day for a week to help soften your hair , i know you said that your hair isnt brittle , the cholesterol treatment will prep it chemically - it only cost under 5.00 it helps the pigment in your hair .After doing this , you can buy a medium brown **** dont use a ash color this is a green based color and could cause your hair to ""grab""" the base which is how peoples hair turns green , use a natuarll base blonde base ect == Herbal essence makes a real nice natural ingred color called caramel its not to dark brown and not to light. You can color your hair , your hairdresser seen the cha ching signs (were taught to see ) thats how money is made in this industry. you stated your hair is in good condition and that its not damaged. If your worried to color your hair you can do a spot test, mix a small amount of your color you choose to use and cut some hair not alot from the underside of the nape of neck , put it into the color mix in a bowl and let it sit there for 10-15 minutes take it out and rinse it then feel to see if it has a gummy texture . If it does then you wont want to color . If this happens , clairol also sells a leave in color , also sold at walmart , what you do is shampoo your hair with it and the color stays in until yo ur next shampoo. use that for 6 week's until your hair is ready for coloring . I have never heard of waiting just 24 hr's - 2weeks to color , we were taught 4-6 weeks
good luck if you have any other questions that i can help out with feel free to e mail me through my contact info.
