i don't think this thing exists. if it did, it would be something like being afraid of books.

Fear of BOOKS

hate or fear of books

A fear of books does exist. Probably it is usually seen as applying to specific books which 'attack' a pre-existing point of view. Without wishing to take sides it is a matter of record that the Catholic church had a list of banned books until fairly recently, and in the past there have been examples of churches burning books they didn't like. (I seem to recall the Nazi party in Germany also adopted this habit.)

On a more general note I have seen other, less extreme, manifestations of forms of bibliophobia, from the university student who had adopted the position that he only believed what he experienced and had no time for books and the learning that came from them, through people who possibly had such a bad experience of learning to read that they don't have a single book in their homes.

One person I have met had a truly pathological fear of all books, she was fine with pieces of paper, printed matter etc, but once they were bound into book form she showed intense fear and anxiety towards them. it transpired she had been badly injured (and traumatised) by someone throwing books at her when she was very young.
