Does working out make you lose as much weight as if you go on a diet?!

Question:
Does working out make you lose as much weight as if you go on a diet? I ask this because you are gaining muscle when you work out which is weight.
Answers:
yes but having muscle causes you to burn more energy, so it helps burn the fat. if you want to look better, or be a better athlete you dont just want to lose fat but gain muscle too. its not your weight that matters, but your fat that is bad. also diets can become less effective because your body learns to use less energy, but if you excersize, you keep using energy and it makes your diet more effective. do both.

Other Answers:
losing fat is what's important, and you lose more fat elevating your heart rate than what you lose starving yourself.

If your goal is to lose weight, you should do cardio, up to an hour three times a week and do light weights with high repetitions on exercises.

You won't build that much muscle this way, you'll mainly do toning and losing weight, which is what you want.

If you diet, you'll never stick to it unless you have the best will power and self control in the world. So you won't lose that much weight.

If you are doing heavy weights and low reps, you will gain more muscle and put on weight, but you will also lose weight and tone up in the end because the more muscle you have the more fat and calories you burn to sustain it.

Hope that helps. I really recommend cardio and light weights, though.

Actually, doing cardio will not build your muscle.you'll only lose weight. Plus, building muscle is not a bad thing as muscle helps burn more calories, so it's not bad weight. Just run on a treadmill go biking.you'll lose weight a lot quicker than just going on a diet!
