what does it feel like to get stitches?!

Question:
I cut my thumb. I think i may need stitches but I have never had them before. Before I make that trip to the ER can someone please fill me in. I don't care how graphic, the truth please. How do they do it, What does it feel like and do they numb it for you first?
Answers:
well getting stitches is no big deal. its when they numb you with the darn needle where you cut yourself. I have had several stitches and one being on my index finger and holy moly i almost killed the nurse it hurt bad when the needle went inside where i just cut myself. bring a pillow so u can sceam into or ask to hold someone's hand. i know i needed it.

Relax, they give you Novocaine.

they numb you first, hardly any pain at all.

i had once 4 stiches on my head from a homeopathic doctor without anasthesia and the guy was lookin for a hammer kinda thing to push the needle in to my hard head, i fainted then!

well first the numb the wound. then they get a needle and string or thread or whatever it is that they use. then they stitch you up like sewing a hole in pants back together. and they tie it off. i think the worst part is being able to feel the string being pulled through. it doesnt hurt in my opinion it just tingles and feels completely unnatural

i've had 14 stitches in my knee and 3 in my thumb

It really isn't all that bad at all. The only really bad/painful part is getting the..um.stuff that numbs up the area. It's.lots of shots. Then the stitches will be sensitive for a while and the doctor will tell you you can't swim for a while but that's OK. The sensivity will go away soon enough AND the area will be protected as well, so there's not that much to worry about that ^^. They're not all the fun, but they don't hurt real bad ^^

They do not give novicain. It feels like being pinched with tweesers. I've had stitches on my forehead, nose, lip. gums, and knees because I crashed my bike a lot as a kid. and I got some wisdom teeth removed. Nothing to it.

I had some in last week. Didn't feel a thing. They give you something to numb it.
