what operation is performed for a clogged coradit artery?!

Question:

Answers:
If a carotid artery is occluded (completely clogged), surgery is usually not done. There's too much risk of pieces of the clog being dislodged and travelling to the brain, causing a stroke.

The "gold standard" is a carotid endarterectomy. This is fairly safe operation and the patient usually goes home the next day.

Stenting of carotid arteries is currently restricted by the US government to patients who are: symptomatic from the "clog", have a clog> 70%, and are at "high risk" from regular surgery. Trials to show the benefit of stenting in non "high risk" patients are under way.

Due to their particular vascular anatomy, some people are NOT candidates for carotid stenting.

As the first person said, a vascular surgeon should be involved in the paient's care.

Other Answers:
There are a few surgical options for an occluded carotid artery and that depends on the degree of occulusion. The more severe the occlusion, typically a carotid endarterectomy is preformed. More common now for the less severe occulusion is a balloon angioplasty with a stent placed into the carotid vessel. Only a vascular surgeon can decide the right course of action.

Sorry, CKM1956 is absolutly correct. *reading too many trials lately* esp. CREST
