I want to stop taking zoloft? Should I do it slowly or .. ?!

Question:
I've been taking 100mg's of zoloft for 1 years now. I think that I don't need it anymore. Any ideas on how to stop>>??
Answers:
You are wise to try and regain your brain power. All drugs should be weaned slowly even cigarettes. If you feel good go faster. Recovery from mental illness is not heard of very much because of the stigma.

Bad idea to stop. but, you have to titrate it.

Talk to your doctor and s/he will put you on a program to wean you off of it. Otherwise you could suffer some side effects.

Talk to your Doctor before starting or stopping any meds.

Maybe you don't feel you need it anymore- becasue it's working. It's suppose to make you feel good. There's a chance that if you do stop your symptoms will return.

oooh bad idea. get on the horn to your dr and ask him/her how to slowly get off. can you handle the problem(s) that caused you to take it in the first place?

Don't, don't, don't go off cold turkey. The withdrawal is worse than the depression. Taper off or switch to a better medication. If you can go finally without, that's good. I had to switch to an anti-convulsant. Thought I was going to explode.

I was on zoloft and I took myself off very slowly. u should talk to a doctor first, however, if u decide to do it without a doctors advise make sure u wheene yourself off. just remember, this could be very dangerouse be carefull!

talk to your DOCTOR

Please talk to your treating providor first, but you need to do it slowly, if you have to do it, to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
