Pancreatitis often results from either acute binge drinking or from chronic alcohol abuse. The easiest way to "cure" it is to STOP drinking altogether. If pancreatitis comes from alcohol, it will not come back if you stop drinking. There are other conditions that may cause pancreatitis, like obstructions in the ductal system from gallstones or related problems. These are usually cured surgically.

A pancreas with an abscess in it is fairly sick. It may be able to seal off the abscess with scar tissue for a while, but even so the pancreas loses functional ability and either way the patient is sick. It is highly unlikely to cure itself. If you know someone with this, have him or her get medical attention. Antibiotics can help, and usually the patient will need pain relief as well.
