Lately I've been getting really terrible cramps? Could this be a sign of somethi!

Question:
I never used to get very bad cramps around my period, but during my last two cycles I've gotten almost paralyzing cramps that have left me whimpering and feeling miserable for a few hours. Could there be something seriously wrong with me?

p.s. Any tips to manage menstrual cramps?
Answers:
You don't say how old you are and that might affect how your periods are.

One thing that helps with cramps is to give up caffiene. No coffee, tea, caffienated sodas and you might have a much easier time.

There are over the counter meds that work well--Pamprin works pretty well--and your doctor can prescribe stronger medications. In some cases, birth control pills are prescribed to manage menstrual pain.

Other things you can do? Use a heating pad (or one of those heating bandages that are out now), gentle exercise such as stretching or walking, and if you're of age a shot of brandy or some other liquor works pretty well.

Good luck. (You have my sympathies)

that happened to me too, i never use to get them now i do, i think its normal, just take medicine from the drug store to help with the cramps

PSYCHOLOGICAL STATE. SEE A DOCTOR

Ok i am not a doctor but i am at the same situation that you are at. You are putting out a lot of waste in you menstrual cycle that is why you hurt so bad. To manage it I haven't figured that one out yet but the thing that i do is either lay on my left or right side it tends to ease the pain a little.

I don't know your age but cramps do change with age. Take ibuprophen to get rid pain at the onset. You might want to see the gyno if they are severe, he might prescribe something like naprosen. A heating pad on the belly helps too. Feel better.

If I were you I would go to your OB/GYN concerning this issue. It may be nothing, however I know when I had pain like that I had cysts on my ovaries and they caused me a lot of pain. I had to have a laproscopic procedure to have the doctor take them off. All was fine after that. It's best to let your doctor know. I am sure it's nothing to worry about, but I have also heard of women having endometriosis. It does cause very painful cramps.
The simple solutions would be to use advil, or motrin for the pain, and use a heating pad to help ease the pain. I know when I have periods I don't always feel well and usually am down for a day or two.
I hope this helps!

You could have endometriosis, a condition where the special tissue that belongs INSIDE your uterus has started to grow OUTSIDE your uterus and is loose inside your body cavity. By 'special' I mean the tissue that knows to hold blood and then release it during menses. Now you have bleeding and/or severe cramps and bleeding inside your body cavity and not just in your uterus where it belongs. See your doctor and ask him/her specifically about this as it relates to you. Sometimes they may say it's in your mind unless you let them know that you're knowledgeable. Don't let this condition persist if you find you do have it. I won't scare you. I'll just leave it at that. Take care.

well i dont know much about menstrual cycles since im a guy, but cramps occur a lot when there is a low level of potassium in your body so i suggest you eat a lot of bananas since they are rich in potassium.

good luck.
