What is a "Chicken pox party?"?!

Question:

Answers:
Pox Parties are the stupidest trend to come to the suburbs in a long time.

Thanks to the alarmist media, a general inability to understand science, and Internet charlatans who tell parents that vaccinations are dangerous for children, suburban moms in the US and Europe are shunning the varicella (chicken pox) vaccine. So instead of inoculating the kids with vaccine, they'd rather go get their kids infected with pox "the old fashioned way." So they round up their kids and take them to an infected kid's house and share drinking cups and come in close contact so all the kids pick up the virus and get sick.

But parents, this is tantamount to CHILD ABUSE. You have the option of giving the kids a vaccine that at worst produces mild symptoms with maybe two or three lesions, and at best usually results in a life long immunity to the pox with no symptoms EVER. But instead, these medical luddites insist on letting their kids get very sick, be miserable for two weeks, and possible become disfigured from pox scars.

Shame on parents who take their kids to pox parties! SHAME!

Other Answers:
Its when parents bring their kids over to the house of a kid with the chicken pox, to make sure their kids catch it. This would prevent them from getting it later in life, when its more dangerous.

some parents fear the gossip about chicken pox vaccine causing autism, so they elect not to vaccinate and revert to having their kids catch chicken pox and get natural immunity from being exposed to the virus rather than the vaccine.

i don't think it is done so much anymore. It used to be a common thing for parents to bring kids to a house where a child had the chicken pox to expose them to the disease. Then their kids would get it too preventing them from getting it as adults
