I quit cigs. on sunday, how do I stop the weight gain?? how long is the worst pa!

We tried before but wern't ready. 35+ yrs. last time we tried the patches, that didn't work well, night mares and other weird stuff. This time I am using self hypnosis (sp) Sunday night when I went to bed I just kept repeating I am not a smoker, and each time during the day that I think of it I do the same thing. Seems to be working so far..was doing a little over a pack a day..55$ a carton here in Alaska any tricks for not gaining weight would be appreciated. I do snack on raw vegs. and alot of grapefruit. and I am also taking vita/miner. suppliment.

I read ALOT of books to keep my mind off of it. It was hard.. But now every time i smell it i want to vomit and i actually turn to my fiance almost every time and say 'Gosh I am SO glad i don't smoke anymore!!" Eat alot of whole grains and take chromium.. look at labels.. watch your fat and sugar intake. More than 30 grams of fat a day is too much if you are trying to lose weight or keep it off. MY biggest problem was turning from the cigs to CHOCOLATE and other sweets. It is proven that chocolate is just as addicting as heroin!! SO TRY not to sub the cigs with other bad addictions..lol. As for how long the first part was i'd say it was the first month that was the worst for me. The physical withdrawl part anyway. After that it's all in your head. GOOD LUCK!!

its either quit smoking and gain weight or smoke and gain no weight. cant have your cake and eat it too.

The weight gain can be erased when you have quit. I would not focus on the wieght but the smoking. After a month try execizing. The weight can come off as easily as its put on.
