How can I perfect a '30s fingerwave on my hair?!

Question:

Answers:
keep your hair wet while finger waving, and be sure to comb through each wave before you set it.If you are of African American descent do not comb the waves after they are dry.If not, comb them to create a softer look.I'm sure it's going to be gorgeous.

Go to a beauty shop or salon.

Is that style coming back? I remember when men and women wore finger waves.

It's really hard to do on your own head because you have to be able to see how to align the fingers on one hand to hold the wave together while you use a comb to make the wave.

Try and find an old hair dresser who remembers how to wave. Some of the old barbers can do it too.

I'm Irish and have natural curl to my hair. I love this style. I comb through my wet hair and use bobby pins to create the wave. They also sell hair tape- same effect. I like that mine never turns out perfect- It's softer and looks more "natural". I was in a musical in high-school the first time I did it, and it was perfect waves, but crunchy and it looked contrived.

Good Luck!
