Got my wisdom teeth out, need help?!

Question:
I got my two bottom wisdom teeth extracted on tuesday (very painful!) but they didnt really give me anything as far as how to clean it, what to expect, anything. Its hard to brush my teeth, and my mouth is still pretty swollen. I rinsed with salt water today, but im afraid food will get stuck in the holes. What should I do to make sure it stays clean??
Answers:
Hey I feel your pain! Had mine removed last fall. For the first few days I just ate food I didn't have to chew so I didn't get food stuck in the wounds - yogurt, etc. Also, and this is important!-- Ask your dentist's office for a special thing that looks like a clear plastic little syringe - you fill it with water and spray into your wounds to clean them. That helped me a lot!feel better soon, good luck! :)

When I had mine out, I got a syringe and squirted warm water into the holes.
I also got some Oral-B Amosan from Walgreens, and that really sped up the healing process.

You should be rinsing with the salt water every 4 hours, and everytime you eat. Your mouth will be tender, so just avoid brushing the back teeth.

when i got mine out i drank milkshakes and it filled my stomach and the cold helped with the pain in my mouth. Soup is also good. I know it's gross but i don't think i brushed my teeth for 2-3 days. i gargled with hydrogen peroxide or salt water. Peroxide will kill most germs. Also, if you wipe off your teeth with a handtowel it gets off most icky stuff. Good luck !!

The best way to make sure that it stays clean is to rinse your mouth out really well right after eating. Once you get the swelling down (i suggest using cold compresses and holding them on your face as long as you can stand it to get the swelling to come down), brushing your teeth should get easier. Also try chewing your food as close to the front of your mouth as possible, i know it sounds weird but it will keep food from getting in where it shouldn't.

you don't have to rinse it with anything. the swelling will disappear in a day or two. you'll have to try to brush your teeth as usual. it is important that you do not infect your wounds bu touching them with Anny foreign objects. excuse my English. wish you all the best.

The dentist should have given you a curved syringe to gentle irrigate the "holes". You should do this after every meal, brush your teeth like normal and take any pain medication they perscribed you as a body will not heal if it is in pain.

I was told not to drink out of a straw or spit for awhile because it will open the wound again.
