if a person has cerebral palsy, does it cause then to have a learning disability?!

Question:

Answers:
Many people with cerebral palsy are very intelligent. It's just that the condition, which effects speech and other motor functions, may cause them to appear to be mentally handicapped.

Other Answers:
Not necessarily - the two are commonly seen together but are very much mutually exclusive. I work voluntarily with people who have cerebral palsy and while some have mild learning difficulties, others are perfectly fine. You will see people with cerebral palsy in all walks of life, and living and coping very well on their own.

The answer is no. Plenty of people with cerebral palsy and they have no learning disability.

Cerebral palsy itself is strictly a MOTOR problem, affecting the connections between the brain and the muscles. It does not necessarily imply any sort of cognitive problems. Like the rest of us, people with CP come in all cognitive levels, from gifted right through severely retarded. So there's no cause and effect relationship.any LDs or other cognitive problems that may coexist with CP are entirely coincidental.
