Don't type?

sounds you might have carpotunnel. get it checked out by a doctor

You could wrap them with ace bandages or they have wrist braces and wraps, but I think you should wear them when you paint as well as type.

Go to a doctor. Could be Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.

i actually have that. mine is called tendinitis. best thing you can do is stop typing for a while. otherwise sometimes ice on it feels good. if it's really bad, maybe take some ibuprofin. i do that too.

put your keyboard and mouse lower so your arms are not raised and see if this makes any difference

Well i noticed when i am on the computer too much it will make mine hurt also. If you lay off the computer so much you won't hurt anymore, thats what i did. Hope this helps!

Try not to use your wrists that much, assist the movement with your whole arm.

suggestion: try streching excercises before you paint. And strech after a couple of minutes of doing the same movements.

It's probably carpal tunnel syndrome. A doctor can fully diagnose it for you, but if you don't want to spend the money on a doctor's visit, go to the local drug store and buy a wrist brace for carpal tunnel (about $15-$20) and some anti-inflammatory medicine (Ibuprofen or Advil).

This is what the doctor will tell you to do anyway, so save yourself the doctor's office fees.

If this doesn't help within a couple days, then you should go see a doctor anyway.

I have carpal tunnel syndrome. It sucks.

Many people think that CTS (Carpal Tunnel Syndrom) is developed through strenuous activity, but it can actually be developed through any repetition in motion with the wrists, such as painting for a hobby/living, or typing at work alot. The activities described above will ease the symptoms, but just like spraining an ankle, the pain can come back. (Told to me by my doctor after he diagnosed me with CTS.)

You might want to rest your wrists..and stop typing.

If it's not carpal tunnel syndrome (and it probably is), it could be thoracic outlet syndrome. (A pinched nerve in your shoulder can produce symptoms in your hands and arms.) I have both. A physical therapist can help you out.

Hi 'homework'. There are a lot of potential causes of wrist pain when typing. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is ONLY ONE of THEM. Myofascial pain syndromes (trigger points in the muscles of the forearm) and Thoracic Outlet Syndromes (nerve compression and/or vascular compression in the neck/shoulder that can affect any aspect of the upper extremity, including the wrists), and cervical dysfunction are more common causes than Carpal Tunnel.

A very important consideration is the fact that BOTH of your wrists are bothering you. This almost always means there must be a 'central' problem that is 'setting up' the problem in BOTH wrists. Central problems usually mean either the neck or the thoracic outlet syndromes.

Please see your Chiropractor, or other biomechanical specialist, to help you 'sort out' the true cause of your pain.

Note: one of the reasons that carpal tunnel surgeries FAIL about 50% of the time is because too many docs only know 'carpal tunnel' - that is, they get the diagnosis WRONG. (Notice how 'everyone' on this website says 'carpal tunnel' as soon as you say 'wrist pain'.) Be sure your doctor knows about, tests you for, and clearly explains, his/her findings regarding the conditions I have mentioned here.

Best wishes and good luck.
