someone told me that i should drink water constantly to lose weight, but..?!

Question:
doesn't too much water damage electrolytes. and are 8 glasses of water reffered to as eight cups or what.
Answers:
When I'm dieting, I drink half my weight in ounces each day. So, if you weigh 200 lbs, you should drink 100 ounces of water each day.

Other Answers:
yeah, eight 8-oz glasses.
Dunno about the electrolytes
yes, drink water heavily.

They say to drink 8- 8oz cups of water a day, but that doesn't mean it has to be pure water. Other things count as water too, like milk, kool-aid, juices, etc. I drink a lot of water in addition to all the other stuff I drink, so I drink more than the required. You probably are drinking a good amount too :o)

you drink alot of water youll just be in the bathroom every hour..if you want to loose weight then try a low carb diet. For exmple me and mom went on a diet made for diabetics cause she is diabetic and i lost 30 lbs in about one month.it work s i promise..make sure you have somebody dieting with you its much more fun and motivating.

a cup is 8 ounces which is the standard serving size of beverages (only recently has 12ounces or more become the norm. When MCD's first opened, their large is what is now our medium). Drinking water heavily can help you lose weight as it does fill your stomach creating less urgent hunger. It is important to make sure you are getting enough electrolytes and salt to replace what you are losing. Gatorade can be used as a replacement for a serving or two to ensure you are replacing lost electrolytes.

As always though, consult a doctor before you start a new diet.

Yes! You can drink too much water--especially if you're especially sedentary or drink too much at once. The 8-glasses-a-day rule is JUST a guideline. And not a very good one at that.

And, yes, the previous poster is right. Herbal teas, fruits, etc., count, too.

Drinking alot of water is good. I used to drink diet sodas all of the time, but when I quit drinking them back in October I started craving water. I was filling my need for water with all of the bad things that are in sodas. I am still not drinking sodas, although I do drink alot of green tea and water and I have now lost 20 lbs.

You might want to investigate Carnitine, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) and more exercise as helpful adjuncts to your weight loss program.

Drinking water makes your kidneys' work easier, helps to remove impurities from your body. In rare cases some people may overdo it. This is called polydipsia, I think.

But 8--12 glasses a day certainly is in the healthy range.

I have also heard about excessive water throwing your electrolytes off. I believe that is only if your water intake is much greater than the recommended 8 glasses per day. Keeping in mind, that if you are extremely active or sweat excessively or are in hotter than average climates that your intake requirements may vary. Also, I believe that the 8 glasses per day is based on 8oz each glass. Hope this helps.

Yes, you should drink at LEAST eight 8 oz glasses of water daily. As far as electrolytes go, they are just sodium and potassium molecules. Most Americans eat too much sodium (unless on a sodium restricted diet) and don't drink enough waer to flush teh system. Also, many Amaricans are in a perpetual state of dehydration. Unless you exercise vigorously on a daily basis, or worl outside/in a job in extreme heat where you perspire a lot, you should not be at a loss for electrolytes. Better to drink an EXTRA 2-3 glasses of water and eat one banana a day than to go without the water.
