in england pants are called trousers and underwear is often called pants.
But they are. In England, the birth place of the language you speak, these things are correctly called:-
"Long-trousers" and "Short-trousers". Although even here they are generally abbreviated to just "Trousers" and "Shorts".
You lot changed our language for your own use and along the way got all confused. Blame your ancestors!
