It is more than normal. I am a former health teacher (my current career isn't reflectant of that).
I have people always ask this question...and yes...it is normal.
I would also like to point out that it is IMPOSSIBLE to determine if you are straight or gay (even on your own) before you are the age of 16.
A lot of times, boys begin to form a sexual attraction to people of both sexes (which is the curiosity you are talking about). It lasts for a few years...sometimes longer. In rare cases, it never goes away...so you would then be considered gay...but in reality, if you are gay...you are born gay...it isn't really a choice.
