Question: What goes down in a prostate exam.?
question directed at the older folks. i'm a 16 year old boy having a weak urine stream problem. the doctor said it might be a prostate problem, i'm young for that but he recommended the exam. all i know is i'm getting a finger up my ***, which i'd really like to avoid. can anyone supply any other details just so i don't have to go in and be unpleasantly surprised.?Health Question & Answer

all the doctor will do is lubricate his finger, ask you to relax and insert his finger in your rectum.
he will maybe turn his finger a little and palpate your prostate.
then he will pull it out and have u wipe urself clean and get dressed.
he will do this with u bent over a table or examining bed of course.

That is about it, I'm afraid ..... The doctor lubes up his gloved finger , and slides it up inside your butt to feel the prostate ..... that is about all there is to it ....
When I was in the medical Corps ..we had several guys get erections when the doctor did that proceedure ....
If you smoke tobacco or weed it CAN cause you to have a weak urine stream due to damaging the vessels in the penis and testicles ... just so you know .

I had a blood test taken re3cently. They used that to test my prostate as well... since they were taking the blood test anyway to test for HIV and any other STD... which all came back clear... phew. If you are sexually active, it pays to check these things regularly.
For a prostate exam a skilled person will feel your prostate... it's uncomfortable but it is just a clinical procedure like getting a needle for a filling at the dentists (lol) .. so dont worry about it. Man up.Health Question & Answer

The only way to check the prostrate is to have a digital exam. yes this means the Dr will put a finger in your rectum. It sounds unpleasant, but really is fast and does not hurt. Health Question & Answer
